C.S.I. Wesley Tamil Church, located at St. Thomas Mount, is a historic parish belonging to the Church of South India (CSI) Madras Diocese. Originally established by the Wesleyan Methodist Mission, the Tamil congregation's roots began over 200 years ago in a small school chapel. In 1829, a dedicated Wesleyan Chapel was built to serve both English and Tamil-speaking congregations. Wesleyan Tamil Church was formally established in 1860 with the appointment of its first native resident minister.
